Feather Firebrand, the Former Fairy

Post by Myds6 on Sat Sep 17, 2016 6:01 am

Name: Feather Firebrand

Race: Human (Ex-Fairy)

Age: Over a century, but who's counting?  (She looks 25)

Face: Carefully made-up, brown-eyed, slightly angular but soft.  Usually looks frustrated.

Hair: Long, wavy and red.

Body: Average height and size, voluptuous and curvy but not chubby.

Clothes: She prefers the color green.  The need for human-sized clothes was new to her, so she managed to buy many short green dresses of the type favored by wood elves who for some reason want to dress like a stereotype.

Weapon: She sometimes carries a wand, but doesn't need to, due to her magical nature.

Bio:  If you want to know in-depth, look at the last page of the adventure called "The Sylvan Crown."  In short, Feather was an incredibly mischievous fairy, and played so many pranks on humans (who fairies are trained to avoid) that the leaders of her community feared humans would come to exterminate them.  There is no such thing as fairy jail, and they couldn't imagine killing one of their own, so they bound her will to a crown of nettles, intending to coerce her into doing the right thing until she learned how to behave.

Unfortunately for them, a travelling fortune-teller stole the crown, and used the fairy attached to it (she was once small and had wings) to pleasure her sexually.  And a few other things, when they came up.  An evil Marquesa visited the fortune teller, sensed the fairy, and returning at night, stole the crown.  She used Feather's prankster nature to further her social rank.  She held a grand party annually, and anyone who disagreed with her or spoke ill of her wound up having a mysteriously humiliating visit--the kind they would not live down, and that eroded their social status.

A group of adventurers, hired by a duchess, tracked down the crown that controlled the fairy, and confronted the Marquesa.  The fortune-teller was at the party, in disguise, trying to find the crown herself.  When the duchess confronted the Marquesa, Feather's story was told.  The duchess broke the crown, freeing Feather's will and allowing her to take vengeance on the women who had previously controlled her.

As she was about to leave the party, the Fairy Queen arrived.  She pointed out that the Sylvan Crown made acting against the will of its owner painful, yet still possible.  Because of this, she held Feather partly responsible for her actions, as were the fairies who bound her to it.  In an effort to right the wrongs, Feather was turned into a human.  She was able to keep some of her magical powers, and is able to turn into her fairy form for five minutes daily.  If she behaves better over the next five years, she may get to return permanently to her fairy form and former home.  If not, she will live a human life, without the ability to transform.

Once human, there were lots of people who wanted to take their own revenge on her.  It was a poor introduction to her life as a human, and before she was even removed from her restraints, she was arrested by the Enferian guard, and carted off to the arena.

Feather is angry at the world, frustrated at having to adapt to a larger body and an entire human society, and troubled by the vast array of choices before her.  There's no sign currently of her rather vindictive and prankster nature changing.  Since she's unhappy with her lot, she'd like everyone to share her unhappiness.  She has a vendetta against the Marquesa, the Fortune-Teller, those who worked for the Marquesa, and the group of adventurers who freed her (because once she had a human body, they took revenge for what they had suffered from her).  She thinks that humans are big, stupid oafs who exist mainly for her to entertain herself, torturing them with her pranks.  She's obsessed with eating, since humans have to eat much more than fairies.  But the sweet tooth she had as a fairy is now just more intense.  She can be charming and manipulative to get what she wants.  She's a bit clumsy at her current size and with her lack of wings.  But she makes up for it with magical power and sheer attitude.

Feather is a powerful opponent, not to be underestimated.  One can't tell at first glance, but she makes a relentless enemy, and a fickle, unstable ally or friend.

Stats:  Rolls: 6,9,8,6,2,5,8,8,6,1
Strength-6
Dexterity-5
Speed- 8
Constitution-6

Intelligence- 9
Wisdom- 6
Perception-8
Charisma- 8

Skills:

Natural Mage:  She casts magic without any tools or components.  She doesn't even need to speak.  If she uses a wand, it's painfully easy, and gives her a +1.  She can cast general mage spells like telekinesis, various elemental attacks, most of what other non-specialized mages cast.

Fairy Transformation: Once a day, she can turn into her previous form, a fairy not much bigger than a human hand, with wings and all.  This won't help her in the arena, since her clothes don't change size with her.  There might be places out in the world where it would come in handy, although she has to be prepared to be nude.

Fairy Dust: While in fairy form, she can make fairy dust, which she can carry and use in human form.  There are a few kinds, and she might have a variety at any given time.

Darkness powder--Blinds an opponent for 2 rounds, unless they make a constitution save.

Itching Powder--Makes someone itch uncontrollably, possibly even removing clothes so they can scratch under them.  Save vs. constitution.

Tickling Powder--Feels like thousands of feathers stroking one's body.  Causes uncontrollable laughter if a save vs. constitution is failed.

Levitation Powder--Makes things, or people fly.  Feather is trying to learn to use it to make herself fly, but she can do so only extremely clumsily, and occasionally falls.  She probably won't be using it to make herself fly until she gets the movement aspect of it figured out.  A victim can save vs speed to not levitate, otherwise, they will be lifted clumsily off the ground.  Each round they can roll to get down, and if they fail, Feather has to roll vs wisdom to not drop them, unless she wants to.  Used on an object (clothing, etc) it works the way most rolls in the arena work.

Charm Powder--Allows her to charm an opponent for 2 rounds, save vs their wisdom, or they will think of her as an old friend.  She can make suggestions.  They don't have to follow them, unless they're something an old friend could talk them into.  After that time is up, she gets a +1 on charisma checks against the victim for the next hour.

Sleep Powder--Save vs. constitution to not fall asleep.  If someone attacks you or removes an item of clothing while you are asleep, you automatically wake up.  Otherwise it lasts for 1D6 rounds.

Dance Powder--What it says on the label.  Makes someone (or something!) dance.  Save vs wisdom.

I make really weak characters sometimes, on purpose. I'm trying to define some powers on the last few. Did you see the Marquesa's pact with a demon queen? Anyone we know?
