((Players: Jacqueline, Halia, and Velatha. Correct me if I'm wrong with your initial post.))

It was a quiet night in the Launcet Manor, at least so far as the rest of the city was aware. In truth, the abode of the bachelorette Lady Pauline Launcet had been infiltrated by three masters of stealth.

Hired to steal an heirloom from the Lady's vault, the trio had quietly infiltrated the manor grounds, surprised to see a distinct lack of security. Lady Launcet was either very confident or very stupid to leave her home unguarded...

The employer for the job had only told the three women that they were going after a magical statue of the goddess of love. What made it magical, how large it was, and where it might be hidden were all details that had been left out. It was thanks to this that the trio was completely unprepared for the ten foot solid gold statue they found deep in the underground vault of the Launcet Manor.

"Ah, bollocks." Velatha cursed. "How in the hell are we supposed to steal -that-?"

"Well, I suggest that we find out what makes this tresor so special, then go from there," Jacqueline responded, though she, too, was dumbfounded by the sheer size of the statue.

She had definitely not signed up for this. This was meant to be an easy job for a decent amount of cash. Jacqueline had unfortunately had to spend the money from her last job on  replacement undergarments, having lost the last set on her last job. Sure, the white ones obviously hadn't been all that lucky, and the black ones might be different, but she liked the old ones a lot.

But, I digress. Jacqueline just wanted a simple mission for decent pay. This was certainly not simple.

Halia was transfixed by the statue currently, studying the thing with a tiny bit of magnifying crystal with a gold handle attached to it. Bent at the waist, the tiny half elf was quite a sight, even with the dark green cloak covering her tight little bottom. She stood up straight, her hood still up over her pigtails, but her adorable face seemed to shine in the darkness.

"It's magical, I'd bet. We won't be sawing it to pieces or stuffing it into any inter-dimensional bags," she said, her face screwing up in a little pout of frustration. Are we sure this is it? Ugh, who am I kidding..."

Wondering why they'd been sent in the first place, Halia groaned and looked around.

"Maybe there's some way we can, I dunno, manipulate the statue. I've heard stories of constructs that move. Hell, I've seen one or two animated suits of armor in my day..." she said, her voice getting reverent again as she gently touched the thigh of the statue with a trembling, bare hand.

As Halia's hand made contact with the golden thigh, the statue began to gently hum. The hum grew steadily louder as a faint glow radiated from the golden goddess. Then, in a flash, Halia was thrown back as a wall of magical energy manifested around the base of the statue. More troubling still, the torches that lit the room sputtered out, plunging the three thieves into darkness as the sounds of magical devices activating seemed to echo from all over the vault.

"Oh... this is not good." Velatha said. "Not even a little bit. Girls, I think we just figured out why Lady Launcet doesn't hire guards..."

The half elf's eyes went wide as she watched the statue, totally unprepared as she was blasted back. She seemed to roll with the impact, and it was a good thing that she did as she crumpled to the floor against the wall. Halia shook her head, recovering quickly and crawling to her feet. Taking a defensive stance out of instinct, Halia was practically crouched to the ground, knees bent, hands out for balance. Squinting, there wasn't even a little light to see by. Maybe a little magic would help with that.

"Dammit... I'm sorry, I'm not sure what happened. The statue... I feel like it kind of drew me in," she improvised, glad for a moment they wouldn't be able to see her roll her eyes at herself in the darkness. Whether or not what she said was true was irrelevant (it may well have been -- she wasn't sure); she just needed a plausible excuse for her short-sighted actions.

Her instincts kicked in once again and she muttered a short syllable, a simple trick meant to create a pinpoint of light in the palm of her open hand -- enough for them to see by, for now.

"Should we just get the hells out of here or what?"

"I like the sound of the idea." Velatha agreed. "The sooner, the better."

The trio quickly ducked out of the room housing the statue. They weren't prepared for what they found on the other side. They had entered the statue room from a nondescript hallway connecting the chamber to the main room of the vault. The had exited the statue room through the same door only to find themselves in a long, narrow, twisting hallway. The grey stone continued on into the darkness past Halia's pinpoint of light.

"Oh, this just gets better and better." Velatha muttered in irritation. "We're in a damn maze, I bet. Keep an eye out for traps, and... I don't know, hope we don't get lost?"

"Lost?" Halia balked. "This was a different hallway when we came in!" she said, gesturing for emphasis. "What are we supposed to do, trail a thread behind us in case we need to get back to the scary statue?" her little voice was an exasperated hiss in the darkness.

"We've been duped into one giant trap, it seems like," she muttered. "Maybe we should just beg for mercy and get it over with," she said with an uncharacteristic grumpiness, but continued following Velatha cautiously all the same.

"C'mon, Jaq, let's get out of this place as soon as we can -- I'm sure we've all got a lot of questions for the jerk that gave us this job..."

"Putain magie," Jacqueline said, utterly baffled by this turn of events. "Surrender is not an option. I'm sure we can find a way out; if I made a maze I'd include a way out."

Upon hearing Halia's final comments, Jacqueline's demeanor hardened. "Don't call me 'Jaq'."

Velatha stifled a snicker at Jacqueline's stern reaction to Halia's choice of nickname. These two were certainly an odd duo, but skilled and disciplined in their own ways.

The stone corridor continued for what felt like an eternity, twisting and turning though lacking any deviations in the path. Still, aside from not being the way they entered, the hallway seemed to cover more ground than the manor sat upon. It was hard to be sure due to the twisting nature of the hall.

At last, the end of the hallway seemed to be in sight. The stone path turned once more, but wherever it turned to was casting light into the passage, illuminating the turn.

"There we go. Now we can try to get a better idea of what's going on here." Velatha muttered. "Be on your toes, girls."

The trio crept down the hall in a small cluster. Turning the corner, all three were quickly alerted to the sound of stone grinding against stone.

Dex Check: Difficulty 6
Velatha: 6+3=9
Halia: 6+3=9
Jacqueline: 2+3=5

Velatha and Halia quickly dodged the spray of darts that shot down the hall. The darts that had been on a collision course with those two clattered harmlessly against the wall. Jacqueline, however, was less lucky. Darts bit into the rogue's leather jerkin as they flew by, taking scraps of leather with them as they flew into the wall. Jacqueline's tunic was still on, but had suffered some nasty damage exposing her sides and toned stomach.

"Eesh, bad luck, girl." Velatha said.

Continuing on, the trio reached a small circular room. Three doors stood closed in the room to the north, south, and east, identical and nondescript.

"Sorry! Sorry, I forgot your rule, Jacqueline," she chirped before they hurried off down the hall. With a little squeak of alarm Halia dove to the ground moments later, darts whizzing over her head.

"Yeesh, that was uncalled for. Everyone ok?" she said, glancing at the others.

"Well... I guess it could've been worse," she offered when she saw Jacqueline's armor. Gingerly examining one of the darts, her brow furrowed.

"These things seem... Well, I'm pretty sure they're not poisoned or anything. Either this place is really old, or someone's not that serious about killing us... I hope," she whispered, holding a dart up to the light.

"Now what? We split up?" She joked, looking at the three doors. "Ugh, it's a magical maze. Let's just keep turning right."

Upon seeing the light, Jacqueline became a bit more hopeful. "It looks like we're almost out of here, at least." This hope was dashed by the appearance of the darts, causing Jacqueline to scream rather than dodge the darts.

"I suppose it could have been worse, but it also could've been better. Let's just keep moving," the thief said angrily.

"Well, turning right all the time might not work in a magical maze, but I don't have any better ideas."

"Something's gotta work eventually, right?" Velatha said, nodding. "The door on the right it is."

The trio quickly moved over to the south door, finding it unlocked and yielding to the lightest touch. Gently peering inside, the ladies could see that the room hosted a large number of suits of armor on display. Dust caked the burnished steel, suggesting that the room hadn't been disturbed in quite some time. However, on the wall opposite the door stood a pedestal with a golden key.

"That either opens something good or something we need to open." Velatha mused. "Someone should go grab that. Just keep an eye out for traps, because I don't think those darts were the last of it. Honestly, they were probably the tamest thing we're gonna face tonight."

It seemed safe enough. The suits of armor stood silently, the room displaying no signs of life or recent activity. Surely any trap that might have been placed was long since gone. After all, mechanisms fell apart from disuse, and traps were nothing more than elaborate hidden mechanisms. The only question was who would go to grab the key.

While Halia opted to remain silent, Velatha gave a shrug. "You're the first to volunteer. Be my guest." the infiltrator said, gesturing to the stretch between their place at the door and the key on the pedestal.

Jacqueline advanced slowly, wary for potential traps. There was no telling what might happen, but the rogue had no intention of letting it get the drop on her. Falling victim to the last trap was bad enough, there was no way she'd let herself get hit by another.

Jacqueline reached the pedestal without incident. Carefully, she lifted the key from the pedestal, waiting to hear the grinding of stone from the pressure plate she was certain the key rested on. And yet... nothing happened. The pedestal didn't move, and the room was silent.

"Huh. Talk about anti-climactic." Velatha said. "Ah, well. I'm not gonna complain."

As Jacqueline turned to return, however, the trap was sprung.

Dex Check: Difficulty 6

Jacqueline: 4+3=7

The suits of armor didn't quite spring to life, but their arms did begin to swing their weapons. However, Jacqueline hadn't let her guard down, and expertly dodged the blades. Hopping, leaning, and rolling her way across the room, the rogue popped up back alongside her comrades unharmed, key in hand.

Velatha simply nodded in agreement, and the trio returned to the circular room. However, before they could continue on to the next room, they were temporarily blinded by a flash of light. When the flash faded, the three rogues were faced with a floating silver sphere, much like the viewing sphere in the arena.

However, this sphere was projecting an image of an elegantly dressed raven-haired woman. The strange woman regarded the trio with an appraising look, smiled, and began to laugh.

"My my, it seems I have an infestation! Three vermin in my vault, and they tripped a trap like the bungling burglars they are!" the woman taunted. "Oh? What's this? One vermin has already suffered the sting of one of my snares? Bad tidings, vermin."

"And you're Lady Launcet, I assume?" Velatha asked, though the answer was obvious.

"How very observant." the woman deadpanned. "I am indeed the Lady Launcet, and you larcenous louts have made a great mistake. This labyrinth is specially designed to teach thieving thugs a harsh and humiliating lesson. How far will you make it with your dignity undamaged, I do wonder? I anxiously anticipate the results!"

The vision of the woman faded, but the sphere remained, hovering harmlessly in the air.

"Ohhhh geez," Halia said in a long, slow voice with a roll of her eyes and a sigh. "This is bad. Do we keep going? Do we turn back? Do we panic? ...can we panic?" Halia whimpered and hopped from foot to foot in an anxious, childlike gesture.

"What are we gonna dooo?" she whined to the others. "I'm trying really hard not to panic right now, so if one of you could please say something, I promise to stop whining. Oh gods, I'm whining aren't I? Reaaalll professional, Halia. Jacqueline, tell her I don't usually whine..!" the redhead bounced energetically in place as if she were about to sprint away at any moment, pigtails bobbing beneath her hood. Despite the pitch of her moaning and extremely unprofessional demeanor, it was still hard to think of her as anything but cute... perhaps especially so with the wide-eyed expression and the almost exaggerated frown on her face.

"Hold on there, Halia," Jacqueline was somewhat overwhelmed by the redhead's outburst, "there is absolutely no reason to panic." Turning her attention to the elf, Jacqueline continued, "She's usually not very whiny, but she is always this childish."

Honestly, the thief was completely amused by Halia's behavior. She did indeed find the trickster quite cute, and was starting to see the redhead in a new light. That, however, was a line of thought for another time.

"So far as the message from our captor, I don't think it makes much of a difference. We already figured out it was a magical maze, right?"

Velatha rolled her eyes at Halia's outburst. It wasn't the most unprofessional thing she'd seen, but the infiltrator still considered it poor form to break down like this so early into a botched robbery. If luck wasn't on their side, Halia would need to save her pessimistic behavior for when things actually got bad.

"I just keep finding the truest professionals to work with." Velatha said. "Not as bad as the girl that damn near wet herself, but try to hold it together, yeah?"

"As for our captor... this could change things up. We know we're being watched, and we don't know how much control she has over this maze. She might mix things up on us if she thinks we're doing too well." Velatha mused. She had no idea if it was possible for Lady Launcet to manipulate the maze in such a manner, but she wasn't going to assume it wasn't possible.

Moving on, the trio opened the next door in the room. Unlocked just like the first one, the group quickly stepped inside. The other side of the door led to a relatively small platform at the edge of a vast pool of water. A small glimmer of gold could be seen in the water at the far end of the pool, shimmering in the light.

"I'd bet anything that's another key." Velatha said. "So... who's a good swimmer?"

With a heavy sigh, the girl calmed herself and regarded Jacqueline's words. Nodding along with her in agreement as she said "always this childish," Halia actually seemed to perk up.

"Okay, I'm okay now...and I actually like water! Turns out, I'm a great swimmer," she offered, toeing the edge of the pool and gazing down. With her open hand, she seemed to send the pinpoint of dancing light across the surface of the pool, and eventually it dipped underneath.

"What I don't care for is swimming in a pool where I can't see the bottom. Who knows what tentacled horrors await...??" she said with eyes full of apprehension. "Do I have to go, actually? I was just boasting, a lie; I'm not a great swimmer..." and whether Velatha merely gave her a look or literally pushed her, Halia quickly found herself splashing into the water. Luckily, she managed to leave her backpack on the edge of the pool, and as she treaded water she unclasped her cloak and tossed the soggy bundle next to her pack.

With no further complaint she lived up to her earlier words and smoothly began to kick her way towards the golden glimmer at the other end of the pool.

"Don't you let me drown in this damned dungeon!" was the last thing she shouted before she dipped below the water and dived for the key.

When Halia's self-confident declaration that she loved the water suddenly gave way to retractions and fear, Velatha gave the energetic rogue a look that suggested she'd better get on with it. Velatha and Jacqueline watched from the stone edge of the pool as Halia glided through the water, each ready to jump to action at the first sign of trouble.

There wasn't any sign of trouble, however. Nothing stirred from beneath the depths, no holes opened up and tried to drain away the water and Halia with it. Nothing at all. That is, nothing until a noise that could best be described as a hissing sizzle erupted from Halia's position.

All around the rogue the water bubbled and frothed, hissing violently. Thankfully for Halia there was no pain, as if the whole thing was just for show. However, the surprised looks Velatha and Jacqueline gave her clued the rogue in to the fact that this wasn't the case. Indeed, her outfit was dissolving! The seemingly innocuous water was eating away at the fabric of her wardrobe, slowly beginning to expose her.

Dex Check: Beat 7
Halia: 2+3=5

Halia panicked, and her swift movement through the water faltered. While she was able to grab the key, by the time she returned to the side of the pool and hoisted herself up, her outfit had seen better days.

Halia's outfit was ravaged, large holes all over exposing her skin beneath. Everything important was still covered, and a quick check confirmed that her undergarments were miraculously unharmed, but that was about as good as the news got.

"Well... glad it wasn't me that took a dip." Velatha said, giving Halia a sympathetic look.

Turning to Velatha, the thief continued, "Next time, you're taking the risk."

Halia shivered as she hurried out of the water and stood, looking down at her state of dress with some horror. Shuddering, she gave her whole body a shake, like a canine might.

"Oops," she said sheepishly when the others reacted to her nearly spraying them with the cloth dissolving fluid. "Pardon."

Giggling a little, she examined the large gaps in her tunic and skirt. She had a little hole over her cleavage, created by pert breasts in a cute lime-green bra. The curve of her hip shone pale through the dark green skirt part of the runic, hints of matching light green bikini-cut satin panties showing beneath.

"Yup, I agree with Jacqueline. You're up next," she said casually, twirling the key on one finger
