Jamie Roy, the Redcap Scrapper

Post by Big Mara on Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:40 am

Name: Jamie Roy

Race: Redcap

Face: Soft, green eyes, button nose with a light dusting of freckles across the bridge, round face with softly-pointed chin, thin lips with a soft pout.  Overall, very fair features.  She also speaks with a soft Irish accent, despite Redcaps being Scottish mythological creatures, because diversity is fun and also I like Irish accents.

Hair: Auburn pixie cut, falling to just below her ears.

Body Type: 5'3", petite and lithe, perky a-cup breasts, hips and butt noticeably wider and curvier than her breasts, but still fairly small, long legs, small hands and feet.  A small tuft of wispy auburn hair rests just above her pink, hairless lower lips.

Bio: Jamie is a newcomer to Enferia, having arrived in the kingdom just a few months before the start of the game.  She comes from an island principality far across the eastern Enferian sea, and was orphaned at a young age when revolution sought to overthrow the local monarch.  Her parents picked the wrong side, and were both killed when a protest turned violent, and the guards were called in to control the rioting.  Since then, Jamie has traveled with a small theater troupe, all secretly revolutionaries themselves, who still maintain the efforts to both covertly assist like-minded individuals and get as far away from the local seat of power as possible.

Her surrogate family has taught her the basics of brawling, and how to use her wits and guile to best stronger enemies, but Jamie has absolutely no formal training.  On top of the fact that she is quite small, even for a girl of just nineteen, she might not seem like a dangerous opponent at all.  And that is exactly what she wants people to think.  As a Redcap, her trademark hat allows her significantly improved strength and agility, making her a far more formidable foe than she seems.  Because of her small stature, Jamie has learned how to take hits exceptionally well, since she knows her core weaknesses are her size and short range.  She needs to be able to withstand hits that would knock others flat, and that's exactly what she does.

Having now traveled to Enferia, Jamie seeks to find fortune wherever she can, in an effort to repay the family she feels she owes for her safety and new-found good luck.

While Jamie can be cocky, sarcastic, and blunt, she is also quite shy about the prospect of being seen naked.  Her fit, gymnast's body is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, but if seen in anything less than her underwear, the Redcap will do her best to cover up as much as she can, becoming far more meek than her usual demeanor would hint at.  She will still continue fighting even if she is nearly naked, but she is likely to be distracted and thoroughly embarrassed throughout all of it.

Stats:

Strength - 7 ( 8 )
Dexterity - 7 ( 8 )
Intelligence - 5

Traits/Skills/Special Abilities:

Red Cap: As her race implies, Jamie possesses an enchanted hat, which gives her (and only her) increased strength and agility.  It makes her physically stronger and noticeably quicker, compared to her already impressive athletic abilities.  However, should the hat be removed and placed out of her reach, Jamie will find herself weakened until she can retrieve it.  Note that as long as she is touching the hat in some way, its is treated as if it were being worn, even if she is just holding it in her hand.

(The way I imagine this working is for Jamie to get a +1 to her strength and dexterity, on top of what she already has, but should she lose her hat, she loses those bonuses, as well as an additional point of strength and dex, until she can get it back.  The hat is difficult to destroy, so there's less worry about it getting shredded and rendered useless, but it would still be a powerful, if volatile, bonus.  Does that sound alright?)

Scrapper: Jamie may not have any formal combat training, but she's experienced when it comes to fighting people bigger than she is.  She's excellent at getting right up into someone's face and pinning them to the ground, even if she has to take a punch or two in order to get there.

Red Pike: The Redcap's trademark weapon is, traditionally, a long pike.  While Jamie fights bare-fisted, she is still able to tap into the small bit of latent magic within her, in order to summon a lance made of fire and raw magical energy.  Despite being magic, this is a manifestation of her cap's might and speed-enhancing powers, and therefore it can use her strength or dexterity stat instead of her intelligence.  She can use it to stab, slash, or as a thrown weapon, and regardless of how she uses it, the pike creates a small explosion of magical flames around her target, which are ideal for burning away clothing.

The hat seems alright to me, surely enough. Since it can, at least theoretically, be removed from her person and therefore remove the bonuses, it's not as if it's a permanent stat boost. If anything, I'd consider it a class/character-specific magical item.

The drawbacks to having the hat removed certainly also help balance things out, so... I'll go ahead and say this passes.

Another match might be interesting, though new characters might be a bit better for that, just to avoid things being stale. Just as on the OCC forum, I'd like to get at least one more player before I start up an adventure.

I do have an idea or two for some adventure campaigns, though, so don't worry about that.
