Irlana the Magnificent

Race: Human Class: Force mage

STATS:
Str 5 (8 when biotic magic mode activated)
Dex 5
Int 8 (5 when biotic magic mode activated)

FACE:
Irlana has a somewhat heart-shaped face, with large brown eyes, set at a slight angle, and thin brows.  She’s quite vain and is usually immaculately made-up.

HAIR:
Wavy auburn hair falls to down her shoulders, while a few strands perpetually fall into her face.  She has a habit of brushing these back, away from her eyes.  It’s quite a useless habit, since the locks wind up back in her face in a few seconds, anyway.

BODY:
At 5’10”, Irlana is proportionate.  Her D-cup breasts top off a slightly chubby torso, and a large, full backside.  She accentuates her curves by wearing clothes that are simultaneously provocative and spontaneous—clothes that fit both her body and personality.

TRAITS:
Biotic Magic: Irlana’s normal attacks are punches, kicks, grapples, and the like.  When in the “Biotic” mode of attack, her active stats are actually reversed so she has 8 Str and 5 Int (due to the difficulty thinking with so much magical power coursing through her.)  When fighting like this, she almost seems possessed by a spirit more brutal and vindictive than her own.  The only way you’d be sure she’s home is to listen to her playful banter.     Her “ranged magic” mode revolves around her wand (see below,) but it is not her preferred method of combat.

Magic Wand: Irlana’s wand allows her to channel her force magic at a distance, the way any normal mage might cast a spell.  Without it, her magic only affects the force she can apply with her own body.  The wand has a tendency to disappear sometimes (GM note: on a critical miss with it), but she always seems to find it a day or two later, in someplace she hadn’t left it, and usually nowhere near where she lost it.  The wand is so magical, it is somewhat sentient and sometimes speaks, in a voice that sounds like a comedian mimicking the old mage.  It rarely has much to say that is useful, instead being the conversational equivalent of a talking parrot that has been trained by a particularly snarky barista.

SKILLS:
Verbal Sparring: If her enemy engages in a game of wits during a battle, bout, or other contest, Irlana gains a +1 bonus to Int.  This, of course, doesn’t transfer to Str when using her biotic magic.

Tease: Irlana wears extremely provocative clothes.  But that doesn’t mean she’s available for anyone else’s pleasure, and she’ll let you know it.  (+2 defense to lustful attacks, kissing, groping, etc—doesn’t apply to stripping)

ABILITIES:
Read / Understand Languages:  All this travel has made Irlana a polyglot of the first order.  She may be better at languages that Syndra’s main diplomatic translator, but she’ll never stay in one place long enough to land a job like that—and it sounds boring to her, anyway.

BIO:
Irlana comes from the far-flung colonies of the maritime power of Almeria.  Most Almerians unfairly consider colonists to be cultureless savages, but, as a teenager, Irlana stowed away on a ship to the mother country.  There, she survived on the streets on her wits alone, and was a fairly successful swindler.  More than once, she needed to defend herself from those who wanted more than her money.  In these times, she seemed to find unusual strength to defeat her attackers through punching, kicking, and grappling.  She never thought it unusual that she could beat much stronger attackers, after all, she wasn’t a small woman.  But one day, an old mage happened by while she was fighting off an unusually persistent thug.  He approached her, carefully, and explained that her magical talent was an unusual one, and could be developed more with training.  He offered her lessons in magic, a cot in his study and three meals a day if she would act as his bodyguard, since her magic expressed itself in the form of physical prowess, and wouldn’t draw unnecessary attention being used in places where magic was forbidden.

Irlana stayed with the old mage until she was 17, at which point her wanderlust set in again.  For her part, she studied her lessons (and many other subjects she could read about in the mage’s library) with a voracious wonderment.  When she was about to depart, the old mage gifted her with the magic wand he had allowed her to use in training.  With it, she could project the force of her magic at a distance, as most mages do.  Without it, her magic can only be channeled inside her own body to make her seem unusually strong.

Setting off again, she travelled land and sea, in search of adventure, knowledge, and most of all, pleasure.  She sometimes stays in one place for a year or two, provided it is interesting enough (usually major cities or magical lands), but most places she merely passes through long enough to sample the local cuisine, any arcane knowledge she can pick up, and any unusually pretty women she can pick up.  She is pretty much the ultimate rambler, and fancies herself the mage equivalent to the knights-errant of romantic tales of chivalry, although her quests for adventure, booty, and booty aren’t always quite so honorable or noble in intent.  Just about no one else calls her Irlana the Magnificent, but she doesn’t plan to stop trying to make that catch on anytime soon.

Irlana is amazingly knowledgeable about the world, both what can be learned from books and from life experience.  In spite of, or perhaps because of, her intelligence, she seems to most utterly insane and dangerously capricious.  It isn’t that she lacks loyalty or stability—it’s that her goals are so different many don’t understand her (or so she fancies it), and that she learns what she wants from something quickly, gets bored with it, and moves on.  She speaks with an accent that is vaguely Almerian (e.g. think Spanish), but Almerian speakers tend to think she speaks quickly, is hard to understand, and uses odd words occasionally when she speaks their language.

Her wanderlust and resourcefulness are her defining characteristics—she believes the whole world is hers for the taking.  She doesn’t want to rule it, just enjoy everything it has to offer, especially anything rare or exquisite.  This can sometimes lead to conflicts with authority figures who don’t believe she’s entitled to _everything_ in the world.

A few pics from her introductory adventure (see the tavern under "Jessica")--where she looks poised to save Jessica...well, it's too late to save Jessica from a stripping and a spanking, but there are worse things out there...like being dragged back to a school where she'd be subjected to that every second.  Anyway, she's poised to save Jessica, or suffer her own stripping.  I have no idea how it will play out.
