"It... it," Contessa began, searching for the words with some difficulty. It was as if she were literally unable to say, for some reason. With a final sigh, and gulp, she composed herself and managed to talk.

"It... suppresses certain bad urges, said the witch that made it," she said, nodding to herself as if she thought that was an acceptable explanation. "But... I really can't give it to you," she said at last, very matter-of-factly. The way she continued to clutch at it with a hint of panic made Jacqueline apprehensive about the whole thing... but a job was a job. She readied her blades and pondered her next action. Was there more to this than she could say? Probably...

Vella was just about to stand up elsewhere in the arena when the large woman slipped an arm around hers and went to pin it against her back.

Unfortunately, the guard woman was still slippery with pie cream and freshly melting ice, and she squirmed free like a fish. Niniane was the one to fall flat on her butt, this time.

Fortunately for Niniane, however, all this meant was that she was unable to fully establish a grip on Vella as she finally got to her feet and began bandying her sword about. It had taken her a while to get the pie from her face and fully get to her feet with the ice beneath her, and she still looked a rather ridiculous sight. Should she successfully acquire the chain, Jacqueline would wear the magical garment around her waist much like Contessa did. Then, still mildly concerned for Ruby, the thief would cloak herself again and make her way back to the sands of the arena, observing the situation from a small distance.

"Owww!" said Niniane. "It's a good thing I'm well-padded," she added, talking to no one in particular. Since she had fallen right behind Vella, Vella's blue-pantied rear was near her face. The magically frozen bits of metal blanketed the ground around them harmlessly as she grunted and kept her grip on her blade. T'cryse seeing Vella still determined to fight, castes a binding spell to encase he feet in a block of ice, she'll have a lot of trouble doing any damage then!

"The chain... it's worth about a thousand gold pieces!" Contessa blurted out, still possessively clutching her hips and shifting from foot to foot to keep a thigh in front of her privates. She was biting her lower lip in a pouty expression as she watched Jacqueline survey her.

"So... I'll give you fifteen hundred for it. I... I obviously don't have it on me. I have some coinage back in... wherever we came from -- the arena. B-But I can get it to you as soon as we get out of here. And can I please have something to wear?" she laughed nervously.

"What the... hey!" Vella shouted, waving her arms for balance. She looked pretty ridiculous, nearly dropping her sword as she flailed about to try and stay upright. The block of ice had formed almost instantaneously around her ankles, so it had taken her a moment to realize.

Clutching one hand in front of the crotch of her panties, she pointed her sword around in a dangerous gesture. She was clearly panicking, and unable to move for the moment, but given a few seconds the ice would begin to crack and melt -- Niniane and T'Cryse didn't have long to act.

Contessa nodded eagerly, before crouching down into a ball and hugging her knees. Watching with some paranoia, she made sure Jacqueline got a good distance from her before feeling the slightest bit more comfortable. It took a bit of a sprint, running along the very edge of the arena pit along the low wall, to catch up with Ruby.

A few lazy tendrils lashed out at her ankles, but Jacqueline was able to come down into the pit with a nimble leaping motion. She came down hard with her daggers slashing out.

Niniane and T'Cryse barely had time to notice that though. Vella, meanwhile, turned and raised her sword to bring it down in T'Cryse's direction when Niniane suddenly grabbed at her waist.

The blade had frosted over white, and glistening, and Vella grabbed and wrist and gritted her teeth. Alas, she couldn't hold it for long. When she dropped it into the sand, it shattered entirely into harmless little shards, much like her skirt had. Shivering, she rubbed her hands together and looked at her two opponents. Dropping into a boxer's pose, she looked much less dangerous. She seemed uncertain, and more than half naked.

"I-I'm not lettin' you to get away... It's principle now," she said, burning with embarrassment at having ended up in her panties. "Did you think I'd let some pie mage and the iced drink girl beat me..? I don't need a sword for the both of you..!"

Jacqueline was swiftest, and first to spring into action.  Before Ruby could create much more distance, Jacqueline went to pin her skirt to the ground with a few well-placed dagger throws.
